Synopsis: The XO had encountered a unique sentient vessel on a previous ship and it had bonded with her in a nearly inexplicable way. Using some of the same ties that a Trill symbiont makes with its host, the vessel has maintained a unique telepathic link with her, enabling her to share some of its experiences.
When the vessel was attacked by the Borg, her body showed physical manifestations of that attack. USS Hiroshima journeyed through an unstable wormhole, to the alien vessel’s location, and help rejuvenate the alien vessel. With the now-healed alien vessel’s assistance, Hiroshima successfully fought off the Borg and began her transit toward Federation space.
